joecolannino,
Thanks for reaching out! I tried highlighting and it seemed to work on my end. Can I get a bit more information from you? What happens when you try to highlight? Is the highlight tool grayed out? Do you get an error message? Are you logged into your account? Are your web browsers up to date? -

Same thing here. When I select a verse or phrase, after a few seconds the menu appears which should allow me to post to a social network, copy, or highlight. The highlight feature there does not work. Though I see the highlight color tabs I cannot select them. I am using up-to-date Safari.

I can confirm the same issue in my case. After selecting a portion of text, the menu pops up which gives the option to do things like highlight, underline, copy, share, etc..
In my case, the entire top row (highlight, underline, etc.) is visible but as you said, grayed out. No error messages appear. I am logged into my account. I'm not sure what version of Internet explorer, but I know if it is not the latest version, it is very near that.
And just so you know, the bottom row of options on the menu is available. I am able to copy, share, and stuff like that.
Thanks! -

All,
Sorry for the delay here. Do you have GreekTools enabled? -
-
Thanks Matt,
I have Greek Tools enabled. However, even the plain ESV text (w/o) Greek tools showing still does the same thing. -

jlfauth,
As long as the GreekTools module is enabled the highlighting tool should be greyed out. Just displaying only English text won't bring back the functionality. To highlight you'll need to go into your content menu and disable GreekTools. Sorry for the inconvenience! We're aware of the trouble and we're working on the best way to bring highlighting to GreekTools. -

Looking for the same solution : i am using an ipad when using Esvbible.org for devotions, and I formerly was able to highlight and/or post to twitter. Now it just gives me a copy option or "define" if only one word. I thought I must have had a dictionary tool that was overriding the highlights feature. After deleting that tool, and switching browsers, I still cannot highlight or bring up the social post options. I am not using any modules.

I love ESVBible wesbsite! the highlight problem I am having is a little different than the one stated above. The portion of scripture that I try to highlight is always expanded beyond what I want to highlight. It takes "multiple" attempts to accomplish. It takes so long to do this sometimes that I just give up.

west,
Currently ESVBible.org doesn't play very well with Mobile Safari. We're working towards a mobile optimized version of the website that will address this.
Nancy,
I just tried added a number of highlights and they seemed to work well on my end. Can I get a little more information from you? What browser are you using and what version? Can you potentially attach some screenshots for me to see what's happening? -

After subscribing to ESVBible.org, I am disappointed. The highlight feature is greyed out and not functional. Searching is glitchy-works sometimes, sometimes doesn't. This is error message: "502 Bad Gateway nginx/0.7.65"
Seems very poor design and functionality. Sadly disappointed.
Sincerely,

I seem to be having the same problem as Nancy...is there a way to get it fixed? Thanks!

bairdf,
Sorry for the delay! Can I get some more information from you? Are you still experiencing 502 errors? I believe we got those resolved. Are you using GreekTools? I believe the 502 errors were related to GreekTools. If you have GreekTools enabled highlighting will be turned off.
