silly I’m Quirky

User experience

So, I am enjoying using the electronic version of the ESV Study Bible. The reason I bought the app over the iBook version was because I thought the app would be updated more frequently. I am looking forward to the next update and wanted to see if I could offer some more thoughts. Take a look and see what you might like and add because you know everyone has their way of doing things, I wanted to offer some of my own too. Hope they sound good to others.

Highlighting- one thing I lie better in the iBooks app, you can choose multiple colors and specific words ... Not only a full verse but half a verse or two words if you wanted

Swiping between study and Scripture- its a very choppy and too lift of a touch. I like being able to pull from left to right and watch the change take place. This is something that makes apps stand out amongst others: user control... I too often accidentally swipe diagonally and it goes from Scripture to Study. (same idea as pulling from one page of apps to another, smooth).

Search- the few things I have searched have had to be written very specifically. Maybe an option for matching words or a generic search? I like how it gives a short description of the verses when you search, that's great

Easier access to resources- I enjoy when I am flipping through my actual ESV Study Bible and stumble upon the layouts and pictures of things. That doesn't happen electronically yet. I feel like I am missing out on different things because I don t go hunting for them with the app. What if the Scripture portion was everything, like flipping page to page in the ESV Study hardy copy? This could include book introduction and background, along with tables and pictures! Everything!! Doesn't the thought of that excite you?

Other things come to my mind, but I don't have a specific thought that I would change yet. When viewing it on a tablet (for me, the iPad) in landscape mode there is a lot of white space... Filling it with the text expanding all the way out or a recently viewed section or the little lettered foot notes... I don't like white space all that much. Organizing favorites or creating tabs and bookmarking. I know I have my way of doing things, but I thought I'd shre them.

Let me know if these thoughts are crazy, nit-picky, or somewhat good. Thanks and I hope you consider some of these for the next updates!

Last note, thank you for all your work in making the Bible accessible to us who love technology. I do really appreciate how you are helping prepare us for this tech-focused generation.
