3We do not currently have a time frame for the implementation of this at this time. Our developers are currently working on it though.

Is there a time frame for when cloud syncing will be deployed?
Love the Study Bible and love the app! It's great, keep up the good work.
Cloud syncing will be the icing on the cake!!!!!! -

That is really exciting!

So, 12 months later (from this Official Rep's post, nearly 2 years after I purchased the app), where are we with desktop and device syncing? This was a promised feature at launch.

When you say syncing, does that include accessing actual ESV Bible Study notes as well?

Yes, that's correct. To access the study notes and resources available in our ESV Study Bible you need to purchase the ESV Study Bible + application, available on iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/esv-st...

I have access to the study bible notes and the greek tools online.
1) Do I still need to buy the study bible for ipod/ipad?
2) Will the Greek tools be available on ipod/ipad?
Thanks,

This same app works for both iPhone and iPad (it is iPad optimised). -

Yes! I have been waiting for this functionality. Looking forward to this and other syncing options (highlighting, underlining, etc.).

I purchased and have used this App for over a year now. Will this App ever be able to sync with my online ESV Study Bible so that my notes and highlights will be viewable on either location?

ESV study bible App for iPad.-
I am the same, I've had the ESV+ app for over a year and a half and I have enquired about the timeframe for the sync function repeatedly (as it was mentioned to be a 'coming feature' shortly after it was launched. Last I was told (mid 2011) it was coming out by the end of the year. We're at the end of the year now and still no sync function.
I have no doubt the developers are working hard to get this service right off the bat, but I'd like to be updated on it's progress without having to badger you guys at Crossway!
Much love and appreciation for your work,
Jon. -

Any word on this syncing ability yet?

I'm looking forward to the ability to sync the devotions I'm using on ESVBible.org with the iOS app. I'm able to get by for now using the web browser on my iPhone, but it would be so much more convenient on the app. I like to plug in my headphones and listen to the readings. Having everything sync in the cloud will be perfect!

Wasn't sure this was the correct string to ask this-but couldn't find any other. if i purchased the hard copy ESV study bible- does that give me access to some of the extra tools for free or do I need to pay for them.
-
If you purchased an ESV Study Bible you should find a card with an activation key inside the packaging that you can use on the ESVBible.org site.
This topic might be helpful: http://community.crossway.org/crosswa... -

thanks--1. what if I can't find that card 2. So, does that mean I would have access to the extra tools for free or is there still a cost? I do remeber seeing that card and I can't remember If i had entered it at that time or not.... it is definetely lost by now

I've purchased the hardcover ESV Study Bible and enjoy online access but it's difficult to navigate solely through the browser on my iPhone. I'd like to use the iPhone app but noticed it's $14.99. Is there a way to download the app without having to re-pay for the same content?

Paul,
We don't currently have a release date for a mobile browser version of ESVBible.org but it's in the works. This thread will keep you up to date with any news on that front: http://community.crossway.org/crosswa... -

Jennifer. With the iPhone app you're not buying just same content. The app has had a lot of work go into it, the price covers that work also. Perhaps at most we could expect a discount for the content.

I have purchased a hardcover original ESV SB, Leather Personal Size, ESV Study Bible for Logos 4, ESV Study Bible + for iOS and bought the MacArthur notes for my ESVonline.org account. You know which ones I use the most? My ESVonline account and my iPad. I LOVE using my ESV study bible but if I nuke my iPad or iPhone, I lose all of the highlighting and notes I took there (and those I MANUALLY cut-and-paste synced from my ESVOnline.org account). That is so frustrating. Not your fault, but I would REALLY appreciate even a MANUAL (CSV or XML) import/export feature if we are going to have to keep waiting for cloud-based syncing. I have to think the success of this bible in all of its editions has got to allow you to add some more developers to make this a reality before 2012!

I have notes on my iPad and on my iPhone but there is no syncing of them. It would be awesome if I could have this.

The site needs to work on the iPhone and iPad. Especially the ability to take notes, and view the additional information about a verse. Your iPhone app needs to sync user notes into the web version at a minimum.

iPhone/iPad syncing of ESV Study Bible + with login and push alerts
Any chance the Bible Apps you have will be getting account logins so you can have notes/highlighting/reading plans all synced and push reading reminders across devices?
It would also be really nice having the resources be a little more interactive. The maps are just pictures basically. Use the power of the iOS to have them be interactive and learn more about the cities and related passages.

1. I would love to see my notes and highlights linked between the online app and the ESV Study+ iOS App.
2. Multiple color highlighting
3. Someway on the iPad to do split screen like the web app. It drives me nuts that I have to flip between screens on my iPad.

I understand the dangers of setting expectations and not being able to meet them, but any increase in the communication of the status of these much-desired features would be a great move. Thanks and we're excited to see this come to fruition.

Nick Schoeneberger,
Thanks for your comments! I agree. Let me get a status update and I'll communicate that here shortly. -
-
I wonder: will the introduction of iCloud make this easier for you guys to develop cloud syncing?
-
-
missionmandan,
iCloud adds some cool features for developers to work with, to be sure. Since we have apps for Android and Windows Phone, though, iCloud might not help us in the long run.-
it might not help android users in the long run, but I would think for the probably large percentage of iOS users you have, it would help immensely. But either way, a native solution is always better than a home baked one. If google gets it's own native solution you'll have that available also. I think native solutions would always be a better bet than trying to reinvent the wheel yourself.

Is there anything else you guys can give us in terms of a status update? I think the first time I asked about this issue was over a year ago via email, and the answer back then was "we're working on it! It's coming!".
Do you need developers? /me raises hand... -

I just got another iOS device. This would be really handy about now :)

I have the ESV Bible app downloaded to my iPad and have been using it just to read. But just today, I signed up to ESVBible.org and started using the Notes and Highlights and Underline Features. I assumed it would sync up automatically with my ESV app on my iPad, however, none of my notes or highlights were there. Any chance we can get the ESVBible.org to sync up with the ESV app for iPad and Mobile Android too?!

Whilst I think the ESV+ app is great for the commentary and user interface I am beginning to bring into serious consideration other Bible apps that do have cloud syncing for notes, such as You Version (terrible name but very functional and nice interface).
-
-
How can I use this app cause it is only on HTMl. Is there aito program to check this
-
-
Any updates on when we might expect this to happen? I have been writing any notes or adding highlights because I am waiting to hear when syncing might happen. No point in adding notes if they are going to be wiped out.
-
-
man, hurry up this! I am anxious for this to get out! I have a ton of notes and data on my ESV iPhone app--however, something is not quite working with my iPhone, and so I don't want to lose all this data!
This could be really helpful the sooner the better! when shall we be notified of this iCloud for ESV??
Thanks and Godspeed! -

I would love to be able to make a note using the ESV Study Bible app on my iPhone and have it show up on my iPad and ESVBible.org. Is this in the works?

I am new to the ESVbible.org and have just recently purchased an ESV Study Bible. I have been using the ESVStudyBible app for about 7 months now and have loved it but wanted the printed Bible to use as my primary source of study. I am quite anxious to be able to sync info between the app and the online Bible. I have started using the online Bible through Safari on my iPad while studying but it does not allow you to do many things, like highlighting. This is precisely why it is essential to me that the app be able to sync with the online account. I see that this topic has been open for over 9 months. Please advice when we can anticipate this feature being added. Thanks!

Confused why this is marked as answered. I would love for my iPad and iPhone to sync notes and highlights. The Olive Tree app has done this for a while, but I don't want to have to pay for my ESV study bible again!
-
-
One quick solution that works really well is what Olive Tree Bible Reader has done. They sync their notes to Evernote. When you create a note against a verse, they put a note in an Evernote notebook. The title is the verse reference. Then Evernote handles the synchronization. I'm a long-time Evernote user, and this solution seems to work extremely well.
Even if ESVOnline had it's on syncing solution, I'd really like to see those notes synced to evernote. -
-
I have the ESV Bible app on my iPad and iPhone. Sometimes I take one or the other to church, bible study or use it during my quiet time; during these times I often make notes throughout a passage (which I LOVE being able to do). My question is...is there a way to sync to two apps together so the notes I take on my iPad show up on my iPhone and vice versa?
Thank you so much for any help you are able to provide.
Have a glorious day!!
Megan

I asked two Crossway reps at T4G last week. One didn't seem to know anything about it. The other said it was "definitely on their todo list"...

obviously there's a problem or reasons for the delay that we aren't aware of. limited budget cuts? we don't know and we've been patient.
God please help move this project for your glory, whatever the obstacle,
please enrich us with your holy book everywhere we go; using your word rightly the way you intend, Including our precious Notes to help us provide the meaning of your wise words. Give us that burning desire to share our faith in your ways, not ours. Make us holy through the gift of your word, which contains your heart and mind, for anyone to seek. Thanks be to God our savior, Jesus the Christ. amen. -

I really like this app but I don't understand why it is taking so long to get this feature. YouVersion, Olive Tree, Laridian, Just1word, and Glo Bible all have had syncing across devices and PC. As I said, I like this app but I am starting to regret this purchase.
